Satish Upadhyay is currently serving as Vice President of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). He has served as President of Delhi unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from 9 July 2014 to 30 November 2016. Satish was a Councillor from Ward No. 161, Malviya Nagar, South Delhi Municipal Council (SDMC). He served as Vice President of Delhi BJP unit from 2010-2012 and Secretary of Delhi BJP unit from 2009-2010.

Upadhyay was associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in the 1980s. He has also been a member of the Censor Board of Film Certification and TAC in Delhi.
