Vijender Gupta is currently a Member of the Legislative Assembly from Rohini constituency. Vijender served the party as President of Delhi BJP from 15 May 2010 to 15 February 2013. Vijender started his political career in 1980 as Secretary of Vidyarthi Morcha. He was soon made Joint Convenor of Vidyarthi Morcha in 1983. In 1995 he was appointed President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in Keshav Puram district
His electoral journey started in 1997 when he was elected as a Councillor of Delhi Municipal Corporation. He served as Chairman of Law and General Purposes Committee, Delhi Municipal Corporation from 1997 to 1998 and Vice Chairman of High Powered House Tax Committee from 2001 to 2002.
He was elected thrice in municipal elections from Rohini. Vijender ji was promoted as BJP Delhi's Secretary in 2002, from 16 April 2015 to 11 February 2020 Vijender ji served as the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly. Gupta ji defeated Aam Aadmi Party candidate Rajesh 'Bansiwala' from Rohini in the 2020 Delhi Assembly election by a margin of over 12,000 votes.
