Lal Krishna Advani (born 8 November 1927) is a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party. His contribution in making the Bharatiya Janata Party a major party in Indian politics has been paramount. He has been the National President of BJP several times.

Lal Krishna Advani is the front row name of those names of the Bharatiya Janata Party who are credited with establishing the entire party and bringing it to the national level. LK Advani was sometimes called the leader of the party, sometimes the Iron Man and sometimes the face of the party. Overall, LK Advani is an important chapter in the history of the party till date.

LK Advani has been the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party thrice and has also been the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party Delhi State from 1970-1972. Advani was a member of the Rajya Sabha four times and the Lok Sabha five times. From 1977 to 1979, LK Advani ji took over the responsibility as a cabinet minister in the central government for the first time. Advani ji was the Information and Broadcasting Minister during this period.

LK Advani ji became the Union Home Minister under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji after the formation of the NDA government in 1999 and then in the same government, he was also given the responsibility of the post of Deputy Prime Minister on 29 June 2002. Advani ji was sometimes praised and sometimes rewarded for his role as a good MP in the Indian Parliament.

On 30 March 2024, the Government of India honoured Shri LK Advani with Bharat Ratna for his outstanding contribution in social and political field. Advani ji is very interested in books, music and cinema.
